Madagascar, positioned off the southeast coast of Africa, is critically vulnerable to various climate hazards, including severe storms, droughts, floods, and epidemics. This vulnerability, compounded by its unique biodiversity and geographic isolation, makes comprehensive climate resilience strategies imperative for sustainable development. Despite having policies such as the National Development Plan and the National Adaptation Plan, their implementation could have been more consistent, primarily due to inadequate capacity and external shocks like the COVID-19 pandemic. There is an urgent need to strengthen these strategies and ensure their integration across all sectors to improve effectiveness.
